This unique live painting competition traces its roots back to 2008, inspired by Kevan Seng’s profound engagement with the art world through Capulet Art and his invaluable mentorship under the legendary Canadian artist Raymond Chow. It was during these formative years that the seeds for Golden Brush Art Events were sown, starting with the very first live painting event that featured the groundbreaking team of Raymond Chow, Ron Sombilon, and Arlana Green. Their pioneering performance at Chapters laid the groundwork for the Battle of the Brush, setting a precedent for creativity and collaboration.
The partnership between Kevan and Jwon, forged amidst serendipitous encounters on Grouse Mountain, catalyzed the transformation of these initial live painting events into the Battle of the Brush, a competition that has since captivated audiences by showcasing the creative process of artists as they compete under the watchful eyes of an enraptured audience, culminating in the audience voting for their favorite masterpiece.
Our history is marked by memorable moments, one of the most electrifying being the Champions Match at the Battle of the Brush 21. This ultimate showdown featured past grand finale winners from the first four seasons, all competing under the theme “Legendary Adventures.” Artists of the highest caliber, including Caesar Hu, Dave Danchuk, Joe Gianoglio, Lalita Hamil, Marney-Rose Edge, Jolayne Devente, Dana Statham, and the winning duo of Bill Higginson and Olga Rybalko, came together in a display of unparalleled creativity and skill, highlighting the essence of collaboration and artistic excellence that our events celebrate.
Beyond these thrilling competitions, Golden Brush Art Events has expanded to include live painting at weddings, client appreciation events, and corporate team-building exercises, weaving the magic of live art into a variety of personal and professional celebrations. Our concept’s international appeal has led to successful events in Beijing and ongoing discussions for expansion in Manila, demonstrating the universal language of art.
